SUGAR COOKIE MARTINI

SUGAR COOKIE MARTINI
6 oz. vodka
3 oz. butterscotch schnapps
3 oz. milk
Sprinkles for decorating rim

Always a fan of fun-flavored martinis, I had a hankering for a cookie flavored one this weekend after my friend, Elisa, asked if I had a recipe for an oatmeal cookie martini. I didn’t, but I found one and the recipe looked good, but complicated. I’m traveling, so I had to keep my cocktail for tonight fairly simple. The SUGAR COOKIE MARTINI has only three simple ingredients, but the combo sounded pretty gross — milk and vodka?

But that’s what this year is all about for me— trying new cocktails. To make the SUGAR COOKIE MARTINI, I started by decorating the martini glasses for a colorful rim. I put some of the butterscotch schnapps into its cap, dipped my finger in and wet the rim of the martini glasses, before dunking them in a shallow plate filled with sprinkles. Next I put the schnapps, vodka and milk into a shaker. I filled it with ice, gave it some shakes and strained it all in the glasses. And I’m here to say do not be afraid of the milk, vodka, combo. It’s a good one, especially when paired with butterscotch schnapps. This schnapps requires a trip to the liquor store, but- yum!

The white drink helped to make up for the lack of white on the ski hill, and eating a little sprinkles with every sip made the cocktail more like a dessert. Elisa liked adding more milk to her martini and I added a touch more butterscotch schnapps to mine. We had about three each and they got better with each one. It is a strong drink and I would never accuse it of being too sweet. It tasted like a sugar cookie, but one loaded with liquor. I like the simplicity of the SUGAR COOKIE MARTINI. Simple is good, and in this case, yummy too.
