RUM AND RAISIN SHAKE

The Shake

The Raisins & Rum

RUM AND RAISIN SHAKE
½ cup raisins, pre-soaked in rum
3 tbsp. dark rum
1 ¼ cups whole milk
2 ¼ cup good quality vanilla ice cream

Wow! This is a good one. Rum, raisins, ice cream: How could it really be bad? It wasn’t. The RUM AND RAISIN SHAKE is a dessert cocktail that should be on the “100 Cocktails to Drink Before You Die” list.

To make the RUM AND RAISIN SHAKE, start by soaking some raisins in dark rum — the longer the better. Then put the raisins, rum and most of the milk into a blender, and blend for at least a minute to get the raisins all nice and chopped up. Put the blender aside and fill a glass or two with a couple of scoops of good vanilla ice cream. Go back to the blender, add a couple of scoops of ice cream to it, the rest of the milk and blend some more. Then pour the creamy mixture into the glasses, and serve immediately with spoons and straws.

The RUM AND RAISIN SHAKE is rich and delicious. The rum goes well with the hint of raisin, and of course, whole milk makes any shake great. The ice cream and alcohol mixture in this cocktail is a winner in my book (or should I say blog?) and I’ll have to find more cocktails like this one.

If you know of a great cocktail that I simply must try, please let me know about it in the comments. I have a lot of days to fill on the ol’ cocktail calendar. As for the RUM AND RAISIN SHAKE, put it on your bucket list and don’t wait too long to try it!
