CUCUMBER PEAR

CUCUMBER PEAR
Grey Goose Pear Vodka
Cointreau
Simple Syrup
Sliced Cucumber
Splash of Pineapple Juice

After a lovely morning touring historical homes in the charming city of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, me, my Mom, friend Niki and her Mom Jan were all jealous, hungry and thirsty. We headed to Gamekeepers Tavern, a great restaurant that has been in Chagrin Falls since 1976. Of course, ordering one of their many signature cocktails was first on my list of things to do.

I chose the CUCUMBER PEAR cocktail, and, as everyone’s cocktails were being served, I was starting to have order’s remorse. They all looked fabulous. But it took just one sip for my worries to go away. I proclaimed, “Wow, mine is good” and giggled with glee. To make it, the bartender put all of the ingredients above, including some thinly-sliced cucumber, into a shaker with ice, strained in into a cocktail glass with ice, then added a slice of lime for garnish.

The CUCUMBER PEAR cocktail made me realize what a great combination cucumber and pear are. I’ll have to try the non-alcoholic pairing of those two sometime soon. Niki took a sip of the cocktail and claimed it to be a perfect balance of sweet and sour. Grey Goose Pear vodka was also immediately added to her mental shopping list. The CUCUMBER PEAR was light and luscious, and well-worth the $10 I paid for it. In fact, it is one of my favorite cocktails at any restaurant ever this year. The bison burger with cucumbers, slaw and goat cheese that followed were great too.

I’m at the half-way point of my year-long cocktailing experiment and it’s only getting better!

Drink Up^

  1. If you go to Gamekeeper's just don't be tempted by the cucumber strawberry mojito. It came with floating cucumbers and berries and basil leaves, looked great but taste a little weird.didn't stop me from downing it of course but never again! Mom
